Coach of the Month

Each month we recognize a coach that has demonstrated outstanding dedication to his or her students. This award is based on parent feedback, interaction with the students, parents, and other coaches, organizational skills and attention to lesson plans and administrative duties.     Softball, Volleyball, Baseball, Soccer, Football, & Basketball

    Coach Mascarenhas brings an extensive and impressive background in softball to our sport’s lineup. He has managed softball teams for many years and has served as a Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner for softball leagues managing 62 different teams in the San Diego County area.

    Coach Mascarenhas has also coached youth volleyball and baseball for several years.

    When he is not coaching for EMH, he works for his church as a Director of Religious Education and a youth minister, overseeing programs for children/young adults in preschool through high school.  He has also worked in the banking industry and in computer network support roles.

    Coach Mascarenhas enjoys working with youth of all ages.

    soccer, basketball

    Jacques Claparols has an avid passion and talent for teaching youth. He has traveled to the Phillipines and Sydney, Australia instructing basketball and soccer clinics.

    For the past several years, Jacques has conducted soccer and basketball clinics throughout Southern California. When he is not instructing for EMH, he manages and instructs soccer clinics in Lake Elsinore, Wildomar and Temecula.  He is also a grade 8 certified referee for club soccer for the Temecula Valley Soccer Referee Association.

    Jacques prides himself with his ability to inspire and establish a working relationship with his students through leadership, communication and patience in an atmosphere that leads to success and confidence.

  • Arman Medina -

    Arman P. Medina, a San Francisco Bay Area native, has over 15 years of coaching experience.  Arman threw the javelin, wrestled and ran cross country at Skyline Community College.  Arman was a three sport letterman in high school: football, wrestling and track.  He has coached track & field, baseball, softball soccer, wrestling and was an assistant Kung Fu instructor at the Woh Hei Yuen Rec Center in San Francisco’s Chinatown.  

    An Applied Economics major, Arman earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of San Francisco.  Arman garnered his Master of Arts degree from the University of San Francisco’s Sport Management Graduate Program.  

    He and his wife Evangelin have 2 children. His son Armando played water polo and swam on the high school swim team. His daughter Natalie plays competitive softball.  

    Currently Arman is an APE coach in San Jose and teaches Sport Management courses at San Jose State University to undergraduate and graduate students. Also, Arman is a personal trainer for a couple of high school athletes.

  • Michelle Boles - CA - Orange County

    Volleyball, Soccer, Softball

    EMH is honored to welcome Michelle Boles to our coaching team. She brings a wealth of experience instructing children in the classroom setting as well as summer day camps. As a first grade teacher, her patience and easy going personality make her a favorite with students. Coach Michelle works with the children’s ministry at her church and is currently homeschooling her two sons. She has experience in a variety of sports especially, volleyball. Coach Michelle enjoys working with children of all ages.

  • Andrew Barrera -

    Coach Andrew Barrera played as a competitive athlete in many sports most of his life. Since the age of 5 Andrew has competitively played Baseball, Football, and Basketball.

    His father was head coach, fueling his love of sports all his childhood. Andrew is excited to follow in his fathers footsteps coaching and motivating kids.

    Among many awards Andrew was nominated for and played in the High School North vs South San Gabriel Valley All Star Game twice for both Football and Baseball. He was awarded 1st team all league for both Varsity Football and Varsity Baseball, and won defensive player of the year in Varsity Football.

    Andrew is committed to fitness and enjoys attending the gym regularly, hiking, personal training, and is aspiring to open his own gym in the near future.
